In my fairy tale displacement, posted below, one of the disqualifying characteristics of a partner is the quality of having cats. Now, it is important to note that this method of judging, which I used in my displacement, is not very realistic. I could argue that I do not like cats because their saliva and dander particles cause a negative reaction in my body, leading to a runny nose, itchy throat and eyes, and so on. Further, I could say that I do not like people who own cats because their pet’s dander is introduced to me via them as an intermediary.
However, the real reason I do not like cats is because of the nasty look in their eye as their backs arch and their greasy hair rubs on my leg… and then I sneeze. Also, they give me a creepy feeling. How realistic is this? Not very. I see a cat as a sneaky, untrustworthy, sly animal while my girlfriend thinks they are cute. Realism claims a certain amount of objectivity, while discussing views and feelings of cats is steeped in subjective arguments.
Our methods of judging (people, situations, objects) is one area in which fairy tale logic abounds. Now to the real meat. I feel that cats are crafty, sly, and nasty. Here is a link to the story Puss and Boots: link. In this story we see a cat who is quite crafty and sly. Sly enough to eat an ogre and steal his castle apparently. Also, uhm… he wears boots. I would be sufficiently creeped out to see a cat with boots on. No thanks. So, my feelings are not unfounded. It is all here in print. Cats are bad.
